Dagný Sif Sigurbjörnsdóttir

Dagný Sif Sigurbjörnsdóttir has worked in legal advisory services for more than 10 years, since 2016. She has extensive experience in legal practice, litigation and representing the interests of individuals, companies and public bodies.

Dagný completed a BA degree in law at the University of Iceland in 2016 and a Mag. Jur. degree in law from the same university in 2018. She was admitted to practise before the District Courts in 2019.

She has developed extensive expertise in administrative law and local government through her work as an attorney, municipal councillor and chair of the Hveragerði Executive Council, as well as through serving either as a board member or representative in various collaborative projects involving municipalities in South Iceland. For more than a decade, she has been involved in legal advice, litigation, contract drafting and project management for numerous municipalities, inter-municipal associations and other municipal collaborative projects, including matters relating to:

  • – Improvements to organisational structures, regulatory frameworks and procedures.
  • – Major construction and development projects.
  • – Planning and building matters. She has particular knowledge and experience in matters involving power development projects, as well as contract drafting and litigation relating to property acquisitions and compulsory purchase proceedings.
  • – Welfare and child protection services.

Dagný also has extensive experience in property law, including matters concerning national lands and boundaries. In 2015, she co-authored a textbook on neighbour law with Helgi Áss Grétarsson and others. The publication was used, among other things, in teaching Property Law at the University of Iceland’s Faculty of Law and in studies leading to certification as a real estate agent. Dagný also worked as a teaching assistant in property law at the University of Iceland’s Faculty of Law in 2016.

In addition, she has extensive experience handling personal injury compensation claims, having represented individuals in dealings with insurance companies and other liable parties for more than a decade.

Through her work, she has also gained broad experience and knowledge in criminal law, family and inheritance law, insolvency and estate administration, real estate transactions and other areas of law.
